In a move that underscores the importance of safety and risk management in the outdoor hospitality sector, the Canadian Camping and RV Council (CCRVC) has unveiled its plans for a transformative virtual event.

Dubbed the Campground Risk Management Summit 2023, this initiative is set to take place on October 18 and 19. With the backing of Signature Risk Insurance, the summit is poised to be a game-changer, offering campground owners a treasure trove of insights and actionable strategies to refine their risk management practices.

The outdoor hospitality landscape is ever-changing, with new challenges and opportunities emerging regularly. Private campground owners and RV park operators, who form a significant portion of this industry in Canada, often grapple with unique risks associated with their ventures. From ensuring the safety of electrical hook-ups for RVs to managing the natural risks of outdoor settings, these businesses require specialized knowledge and tools.

CCRVC President Cara Csizmadia, in her statement, emphasized the summit’s significance for the CCRVC and its broader implications for the industry.

The Campground Risk Management Summit 2023 represents a significant milestone for the CCRVC. As we continue to prioritize the safety and well-being of campers across Canada, this event will equip campground owners with the knowledge and tools to establish top-notch risk management protocols.”

This sentiment was echoed by Chairperson Ellie Abucay-Giammattolo, who highlighted the collaborative spirit of the industry.

“Our industry thrives on collaboration and shared experiences. This summit will not only showcase best practices but also facilitate meaningful connections among campground owners, fostering a stronger and safer outdoor hospitality community.” she said.

The two-day virtual event promises a rich tapestry of sessions, touching upon various facets of risk management.

Topics range from building robust emergency plans and safeguarding a campground’s reputation during crises to mastering electrical safety and cybersecurity.

These sessions are particularly pertinent for private campground owners and RV park operators, who often operate on a smaller scale and might lack the resources of larger commercial entities. The knowledge shared during the summit will empower them to establish top-tier risk management protocols, ensuring the safety of their guests and the longevity of their businesses.

The summit’s focus on reputation management and cybersecurity underscores the importance of being prepared in all aspects, not just the physical safety of campers.

The “Risk Management for Campgrounds Summit 2023” is more than just an event; it’s a movement towards a safer, more resilient outdoor hospitality industry in Canada. As the CCRVC continues its mission of promoting the camping and RV lifestyle, initiatives like this summit ensure that the industry remains vibrant, safe, and prosperous for years to come.

For those interested in joining this groundbreaking event and leading the charge in enhancing safety standards, registration details are available on the official event website.

The CCRVC, with its dedication to advocacy, education, and community-building, remains at the forefront of championing the best interests of campers and industry stakeholders alike.
